There is GST/HST and PST on new vehicles, so if the vehicle cost was about $40,000 then you would have to pay the taxes. Something to consider if you win as to the vehicle chosen.

I was super lucky to recently win a car and the first thing I checked in the rules was if the taxes were covered as that is about 12% in BC. I was very happy the sponsor covered the taxes on my win.

WoW Maggie22, you won a car! Congratulations! The most expensive thing I've ever won is a $150 certificate from a Toronto travel shop that I can only use if I book an all-inclusive vacation. :( I'll never be able to use it, so am sending it to a cousin in Ottawa. I've been entering contests for 8 years now and have won a carry-on suitcase, a $10 gift card, movie tickets and some samples. I guess I'm not the winning kind. I keep thinking I'm going to quit, but there's always the hope that one day, it could be me!

There's the standard entry (online), another entry for opting into emails and a mail in component for a third ballot.

Print by hand your full name, complete mailing address (including postal code), daytime telephone number (including area code), valid email address (optional), on a plain piece of paper and mail along with a minimum 50-word essay describing your favourite vehicle (the "Mail-In Entry") to: “2017 See It, Want It, Win It Contest”, The Marco Corporation, PO Box 4099, Paris, ON N3L 4B1. Mail-in Entries must be postmarked between January 9, 2017 and December 31, 2017 and received by January 6, 2018 to be eligible for the draw.

To me it looks like they will cover any costs under $40,000. If you pick a vehicle that's worth $30,000, I think they would cover the taxes. If you pick a truck worth $40,000 you would have to pay the taxes. Just my take on it.
