I found NO Clarification as to whether a Different Essay needed:
"Each entrant must also complete the essay submission as instructed on the entry website ( Essay Submission ). After having read and agreed to these Official Rules, click the submit button to submit your online entry. All entries must be fully complete with all required information, and must be received by 11:59:59 pm ET on August 31, 2025 to be eligible. Any entry submitted with an invalid email address or other inaccurate, incomplete, or incorrect information will be disqualified"

I have been writing an essay everyday, and just now read that the essay is OPTIONAL!!!!

Same here! I was running out of stories! Was it always optional and we just didn't notice it? I swear I didn't see that it was optional until today!

I think it just changed to optional, because I just noticed that a couple days ago after writing a new essay daily.
