@arteest44: I often wonder the same. I won 2 or 3 minor Gleam sweeps years ago. But it's been a very long time since then, and for all I know my Gleam entries are getting put directly into a shredder.

I've won one, maybe two but I don't do them often since they're rarely ever fair.

I ran a Gleam sweep a while ago mainly to just see how it looked on the back end. Gleam advertises to their customers that they can weed out "sweepers" and the more premium options you pay for, the easier that is by being able to view more data a come to their own conclusion if you're a sweeper or not.

Regardless of the gleam tier they're using, they can roll and re-roll the drawing as many times as they want until they get a winner they like. Not saying they all do this but they have the option to DQ any winner for any reason they, whether it's stated in the official rules or not. For example; #99 is drawn, entry 99 belongs to Joe A, the promoter clicks Joe A to see all his other entries, sees he got entry 161 too for answering a survey question but the promoter doesn't like the answer he gave even if it answered the question, the promoter can simply re-roll and until they get a winner they want to go with. The promoters aren't supposed to do this, it's in violation of sweepstakes law, but there's really nothing stopping them and Gleam doesn't enforce it on them. I asked Gleam about this and they simply deny any responsibility with what promoters do with their widget. That being said, it's near impossible to know which promoters actually do this and to what level of scrutiny but if they suspect you're a sweeper in any way, you'll most likely not win even if your ticket was drawn and you'll never know when it happens to you since it's all behind the scenes.

It's total BS and someone needs to take it to Gleam for allowing this to happen. It opens the door for discrimination on just about every level. They could look up your facebook entry, see your photo and redraw because you're black. Or they could see you follow a religious account on Twitter and choose to redraw. Or be offended by the shirt you're wearing in a Intagram post you made, and on and on. It's supposed to be have your ticket drawn, be notified, prove you followed the rules as written and that's it. That's not how Gleam works, and the other widgets are probably similar though I haven't ran a promo with them to know for sure.
