And don't forget you can declare the actual value (if the sponsor's claim is
high) by shopping for the trip yourself and documenting the actual value to
the IRS.
I am NOT a tax attorney so verify this for yourself but I have done this in the
past.

I usually skip F1 giveaways for that reason. I'd imagine it would be hard to dispute the actual value of things like behind the scenes & VIP access. Anything that can't be bought normally.
