Various versions of similar hunts like this have occurred before in Canada. There was one in Calgary where I'm from where it turned out the winner was a "friend of a friend" of one of the organizers. This same type of of thing also happened in other hunts in Canada. All I'll say is that though this one is free, they charge a subscription to those wanting clues "early". They're banking on making some money via this means. They don't even have to break even on the prize because it will probably go to someone "within the fold". Back when these were getting popular years ago, I was researching heavily into the company/companies hosting these and it was extremely sketchy (things like legal terms being changed out of the blue, being run by con artists etc). All I'll say is to consider this, you are literally just taking a person's word that they know where the treasure is and that "they haven't told anyone". You don't put your answer anywhere, xBadGirlx. If you think you know a location, you physically go there, try to find the hidden/buried box, get the code inside, then enter that code on the contest's site. This is not exactly a low-effort contest. :p Posted by: tuor87 on September 3, 2025 |

Agreed with goshogun, contests like these waste many times the human potential of the value of the prizes. It's unpaid work, and the fact we can't prove it's rigged doesn't change the fact it probably is rigged. Any contester knows the history of contests and how human nature always ends up corrupting even the well-policed ones with large prizes. McDonald's Monopoly, Nissan, the list of just the ones we know about is endless. This is a huge power trip and should be prosecuted criminally for any number of reasons.
