Posted by: mosquito on January 4, 2018

I've been playing this contest daily for 4 years, and and very rarely see people posting that they won this contest. Wondering if it's worth my time for another year.....has anyone won this before, trying to encourage myself with other's wins?

Posted by: sj7 on January 4, 2018

Glendon has the perogy, Mundare has the sausage, and Vegreville has the giant Easter egg. There is a cool little gopher museum in Torrington, too :-)

No one ever wins this contest!

Posted by: hankenstein on January 4, 2018

@ sj7 - I won this contest in 2017, but in the end, declined the prize because:
a/ flights originated from TO (my home airport is YVR), and it would have cost about $300pp to get the transfer from YVR
b/ I must have looked at the wrong hotel when I entered it, because when I read reviews about the property, it was a MESS. Bugs, terrible food, cold food, unclean, just kind of a blegh property.
c/ I had to pay $400 in taxes. That meant $700 pp (minimum) to go to a hotel that wasn't very good! I could spend an extra $200 or $300, and get a kick ass stay elsewhere, with a direct flight, so I declined it. Or, a better hotel for less with a good sale.

Obviously, none of this is really their fault (other than offering a so-so hotel), but they are picking winners :)

Yes - I'm a brat. LOL.

Posted by: QueridaSara on January 4, 2018

I did win a trip to Punta Cana in 2015. Although I did have to pay 425$ PP for taxes I did get to fly out of my home airport. Definitely worth it. I have also seen several other people on here win over the years. Good luck everyone!

Posted by: dsrbears on January 4, 2018

I've been entering for 2 years and never won a single thing from Trivia Contest. Of course I know that patience pay off :)

Posted by: Joe on January 4, 2018

I won in sept 2017 and went to Cancun 2 weeks before Christmas. So keep trying.

Posted by: mgbabe on January 4, 2018

Even if I never win this (but I really hope that I do - at some point!!), I just really enjoy the quiz each day. Usually, I learn something each day, & sometimes I already knew it !!

Posted by: Anne (Anon in Van) on January 4, 2018

sj7, we could have directed you to the old comments where others have described their wins but Contestgirl started a new comment thread. I didn't mind either way, it was easy to scroll down to the bottom of the comment list (just grab the tab with your mouse and move all the way down). It was actually kind of fun looking at old comments from 2016 and early 2017.

I won a trip to this resort in 2012 through the Movie Channel. I thought it looked too big for our liking, but as it turned out we had a lovely room facing the garden and we enjoyed it very much.

Posted by: kathielu on April 30, 2018

kathielu: How was the food. Always wanted to go to Cuba but we are vegetarian and I understand their are limited options at most resorts.

Posted by: GL on April 30, 2018

We only ate at the buffet once, but there seemed to be a lot of choices. We were given 3 a la carte vouchers and bought 3 other ones. The restaurant by the pool was nice. They had shrimp, other seafood dishes, and lots of veggies. We also had a small breakfast area by our room where we ate each day. We tried to avoid the huge buffet. I think a vegetarian would manage quite well.

They also have a little restaurant where they have the most amazing mojitos and a small lunch .This is one of the few resorts we have been to that we did not witness anyone at the front desk with issues they had difficulty resolving. Definitely a resort to keep in mind when you are booking a trip.
