I recently won, it was supposed to be a smartwatch but because I live in Canada I got 350.00 amazon cash instead

Posted by: sarak on May 20, 2019

That's good to know. I stopped entering them too because they always run for so long! And the page takes 6000 years to load for me. Congrats Sarak~~~

I can certainly understand Beigerwood's view about these contests, but good grief mastodon the woman running these posts the winners on her site, in the newsletter and often references recent winners on some of the new promotions. I like seeing people I interact with win prizes as well, but the most important thing to me is knowing my time isn't being wasted on promotions that aren't legit.

I have the SteamyKitchen contests on my low priority list. If I have the time, I try to enter them. The ContestGirl website makes these a lot easier to enter by using the Presto function. If I solely use the SK website, I have to scroll click, enter, repeat. Launching multiple SK pages at once allows me to just click a tab, enter and then move on to the next tab.

Usually I am entered into one of the contests before the massive amount of pictures load

And congrats sarak

I read on a steamy post years ago about a tool someone was using in Chrome called Scroll Memory. It's an extension you can install that will remember a point on the web page that you want. So for Steamy contests, the first time I enter I scroll down to the entry form, fill in my info, click the Scroll memory icon, then submit. Next time I open the contest link it opens directly at the entry form, No scrolling, Saves so much time and effort and can be used on many other contests as well.
Search in Google for Chrome Scroll Memory Extension and follow the link provided to install. Good luck.

Wow, that is an awesome tool. I would like it more if it was available for Firefox. Will definitely look into it.

I use Chrome as well but I prefer how FF handles bookmarks.

I just won the Apple Watch last month, and got an Amazon GC in lieu of it. Rest assured, people win :)

Posted by: giordana on May 20, 2019

giordana, do you mind sharing whether you use a form filler or not?

Not sure how they actually determine when people use them, but I don't keep track of which promotions prohibit them or not.

Can you use Chrome Scroll Memory Extension on an android? Or, is there an app that does this? Thank you

Posted by: Frizzabella on May 20, 2019

nice wins guys and gals congrats :) thx for the feeback everyone
GL all :)

Posted by: mastodon on May 21, 2019

I guess I will keep entering them its tough to get out of a contest rut sometimes hehe I use scroll memory too but for some reason it doesn't work ALL the time there will be the odd few that it doesn't do it for I have no idea why could be browser issues or whatever :P~~~ it works 80% of the time tho thankfully :) its an awesome extension
it's nice to hear that people are winning thanks for the motivation guys you are awesome ^.^ ^.^

Posted by: mastodon on May 21, 2019

scroll memory? Never heard of it, sounds interesting! For me,I found the fastest way to do it is to click the end button on the keyboard once and then click page up 3 times and it brings you right to the form. Works 99.9% of the time.

I use Chrome's auto-fill but don't use auto-scroll or anything -- I don't find the pages take particularly long to load for me. I like how simple her entry forms are! :)

I won the Jacob Bromwell knife on the steamy kitchen site a couple of years ago

I get suspicious as to the validity of the contest when you see the names of winners repeat. there are 3 different Chows who have all won more than once on Steamy kitchen and they are all affiliated on facebook as well. but if people here have won then its legit just hard to win

Posted by: Darlowe on May 29, 2019

Darlowe, there were only TWO wins by a Chow in 2018 and they were 6 months apart. With 25 or so contests going at all times, that doesn't seem unreasonable to me even if it were the same exact name.

I have yet to win one of these, but seeing people win more than once makes me feel better knowing that past winners are not excluded. Some contests specifically exclude past winners within a certain time frame, and I wonder if others exclude them even when the rules don't state as such. There are some promotions that I second guess putting the time in because of my past wins.

There are two main things that separate the winners and losers (not winners). The first is the obvious one, LUCK! Some have it more than others. Some never seem to have it. It is just part of life. The second thing is something you have control over and any experienced sweeper will tell you it makes a difference. DEDICATION.

A friend of mine complains how she enters and never wins anything, but her entries are sporadic at best. Getting a 30 minute spark to enter a couple times a month is not going to get the same results as someone that puts in the time every single day.

If you are putting in the time, believe in the process. If you are neglecting important things to do so, then reevaluate your priorities. If entering contests is a hobby during TV time or replacing Gummy Drop, then you really haven't lost anything if your name isn't pulled.

Good luck

I dont really care, i know luck is a factor some contests have more exposure some contests are easier to manipulate. I was just stating that for these contests and all blog contest I am skeptical because I have seen winners declared with non existant twitter accounts, or name changes with multiple variants of the same name or the same family name... my point was that I am always skeptical until I hear of someone or multiple someones state that they have won.

Posted by: Darlowe on May 29, 2019

I get the point you are trying to make, but even if people her didn't confirm some wins I don't get the impression this woman would jeopardize her income by being dishonest in her giveaways. Unless she was desperate for some kick back, it really wouldn't matter to her who wins. She isn't paying for the stuff she gives away. And again, you are posting wins that span a very long time and thousands of Steamy contests. I really don't see William winning two contests in 4 years to be a spectacular feat.

Of course there is the possibility that one person is entering all of those names on a daily basis, increasing their chances of a win. I have encountered many on other sites that talk about the siblings, aunts, uncles, etc. they have won things for. In nearly all cases, entering for someone else is against official rules. Opinions will vary on whether it is truly cheating, and the extent to how much people do it of course factors into that opinion.

Posted by: sweepsaddict on May 29, 2019

I was just saying i get suspicious either about the honesty of a contest or the honesty of the participants... nothing more and that it makes me feel better about some contests when i see winners with public accounts or some exposure.

Posted by: Darlowe on May 29, 2019

I get where you are coming from. I love how easy her entry form is but it definitely doesn't do much to deter cheating. Since I haven't won yet, I don't know what type of controls she has in place to expose cheating.

Sadly the cheaters always find a way. I won a prize from an alcohol company and decided to sell it on eBay. I stumbled upon a scumbag that had multiple prizes of just about every promotion I recently entered. No one is that lucky.

Posted by: sweepsaddict on May 29, 2019

@all3y3zom -- That is exactly what I do! I hit 'End' on my keyboard, and then 'Page up' 3 times and the form is right there.
Also - I have won twice on Steamy Kitchen's site, although it was a couple of years ago. I enter pretty much every day.
