Many years ago (more than 13), I won $5000 from Valpak. The bank was hesitant to take the cheque and they put a hold on it, which was OK with me because I knew it was good.

Congrats on that win nancerelli! I remember banks putting holds on cheques until they cleared back in the day. Maybe they still do, but I guess the majority of transactions are done online these days.
