I worried that could be a possibility, but wanted to be sure. If they don't work, it will be a purchase only "giveaway", since submitting your info still keeps you at zero entries. Did you get a referral bonus Hawaii?

Their rules do state that it should work though. I emailed them. Hopefully they fix it.
"You can enter via the Refer a Friend option with no purchase. When someone enters the contest via your referal link you will earn 1 entry, they must not previously be entered into the contest."

It made a note of where you used mine, but gave zero entries for it. Maybe if they fix it, the entries will come through later.

They emailed back pretty quickly. Wasn't much help so far. They said "The person you referred has to use your link and then has to enter the contest.". I asked him if that meant the person I referred had to make a purchase, because regular entry will also put them at zero entries. Will update it they answer back

Still going back and forth. They're having a hard time understanding that you can't refer someone if entry stays at zero and the only way to get an entry currently is by purchase. Zero plus zero is still zero. Will update if they ever figure it out and fix it. If they don't, it will literally be a purchase only "giveaway".

He's not told me they figured it out & it was set up incorrectly and that anyone hereafter who enters should get credit as usual. Unfortunately that doesn't help us folks who have already entered. He said he's going to retroactively go through the links and credit people, but I don't see that working very well. In still at zero.
Let us know if anyone gets credit. If not, I'll get back on the case lol.

Your explanation was in my previous comments, but plowboy used your link before I reach out to the host of this promotion & complained enough to get them to fix it. No entry was working at the time.The host said they were retroactively going back to try and manually add the entries, but I'm not sure they'll fix it for anyone who doesn't reach out. Hope they do though
